Seven reasons to totally embrace Autumn.

As devastated as I am to admit it, Summer has well and truly left us.  Those glorious days of bare tanned legs, lunches sat on the waterfront when a fresh salad was enough to fill my bottomless pit of a stomach and, of course, cocktails on the terrace after work are but a distant dream.  Say hello to dark mornings and early nights, battling against gale force winds with nothing but a crappy Ikea brolley (yep, Ikea do brollies… mind=blown) and the sudden realisation that you’re never going to get to wear that ridiculously garish maxi dress that you bought on a whim.

The winter blues will soon be upon us.  Before we know it, our evenings will be spent shaking in a corner clutching a hot water bottle and cup of hot chocolate as the evil of all evils (aka – torrential down pours) thrash against our tired windowpanes.

But, alas, it’s not all doom and gloom.  And I’ve got a confession to make.  I absolutely love Autumn.

Autumn brings with it the stunning change of colours, the crunching of crisp leaves and a calendar of pretty awesome events.

So to keep you all from sinking into a serious case of SAD, here are my top seven reasons to get majorly excited that Autumn is upon us.

1. Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Oh baby.

The most heavenly drink known to man.  There is nothing that fills me with joy quite like a Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte (topped to the gods with whipped cream, obvs).  It is the taste of Autumn.  It is Halloween in a mug. It. Is. Divine.

 2. Being able to dress like a total diva

Autumn fashion is so much better than Summer fashion.  Sure Summer fashion is easier (white tshirt, denim shorts, sandals, SORTED BRO)… but when else can you wear a cape lined with the most divalicious fur and get away with it still not sure I get away with it?  Autumn colours suit my skin tone SO much more, so y’all should feel happier just knowing that.  Thick black tights, boots, cute dresses, gorgeous coats… oh baby, Autumn knows what’s going on.

3. Eating like a whale and it kind of being okay

It’s not really acceptable to eat the amount I do in the warm days of Summer.  As soon as the temperature drops however, I stop looking like such a beast and more like a normal human being.  It’s a known fact that in the brisk days of Autumn one needs to eat twice as much just to keep warm okay, maybe I invented that fact.  So lasagne for lunch on a Thursday is suddenly a great idea!  Breakfast?  Why not have porridge topped with all the berries, raisins, pine nuts and yoghurt followed by a frothy cappuccino? It’s science.  Let’s face it.

4. Halloween – aka BEST DAY EVER

Halloween is my fave holiday sorry not sorry.  Any day that allows me to dress up as whatever the hell I want AND get on the wine?  HELLO!? What’s not to love?  This Halloween I’ll be living it up in Oxford with the famalam; guaranteed to be carnage.  Even better, I get the chance to channel my inner Disney by dressing up as… BAMBI.  Outfit is totes planned and ready to go.  I’m shaking in my seat just thinking about it.

5. Bonfire Night

Granted, in the past Bonfire Night has been super adorable due to spending it with the ex.  It’s totes romantic, obvs.  But hey ho, single ladies FTW, this Bonfire Night is going to be spent with the girls, Sparks in the Park and baileys hot chocolate.  No matter how old I get, fireworks will always be absolutely magical to me.  I’m that gal you all hate – every single firework is greeted with an OOOOO or maybe an AHHHHH and occasionally an EEEEEEE!  Cardiff bosses firework night.  Get dem mittens out, put on your bobble hat, it’s going doooown.

6. Winter Wonderland and the countdown to Christmas

You can’t think of cold weather without thinking of CHRISTMAS!  I am easily the most annoying little elf ever.  I’m already scoping out this year’s Christmas jumpers.  And the first real step into Christmas has to be the opening of Winter Wonderland here in Cardiff.  Picture quaint wooden huts, hot donuts dipped in mouth watering chocolate, Ferris wheels, mulled wine and ice skating in front of some of the most beautiful buildings in the city.  Utter perfection.

Easily the most prestigious event in the Autumn calendar is MY BIRTHDAY.  At the end of November the world rejoices, playing homage to the birth of the one true princess.  LOL JK, but seriously, my birthday is always a ridiculous affair.  I normally start celebrating it at the beginning of November and finish the first week of December.  Ridiculous, I know.  But a gal’s got to do what a gal’s got to do.  DIVA 4 LYF.

What would you add to the list?  What makes Autumn special for you?

Big love,

BB x
